Trusting God with our Children

A  human mother protecting her young is comparable to a Lioness protecting her cubs.  We find superhuman strength when needed to protect or to carry our children when necessary.  How does that fall in line with trusting God?..

It's easy to give someone else scriptural advice in crisis, at least easier than to have to give it to myself.  Accepting the LORD's will in the life of my children has been more than one or two lessons.  As much as I can tell you that I trust HIM, that same trust seems to lessen when it comes to crisis in my childrens life.

My son was bullied when young (5 years old) at a church function, while I was leading an outreach program at the same church. Seems one of the children who we were reaching out to had a bullying problem.  The next day, I went to meet with the LORD (at a place I do my best thinking and talking to God).  Sitting in silence for what seemed to be hours, just angry.  "LORD, I am doing what you sent me to do, and my son got hurt, in a place where he should feel safe...Why did you not protect my son?"  Through my tears, and my own chaotic spirit, I felt HIM speak to my heart..."Darla, I gave you my son, give your son to me."  For crying out loud! that is not what I wanted to hear.  Remembering that GOD has a plan for my life, and forgetting HE also has a plan for my son. Thinking of Abraham and Isaac,..and wondering "Is this my Isaac", "Have I raised him above what the Lord calls me to do?"  Ahh its easy to fall into that.

Another example;

My 19 year old daughter was diagnosed with early detection of cervical cancer, still in early stages. Again, my mothers protective mechanism went off.  "God, what in the world!? she is just a baby herself, don't take her, please" begging and pleading with God for my daughter over a year. I could not think of anything else.  Again, while laying on the floor in front of GOD, HE spoke to my heart," Darla, she is mine, you have her for a time, but ultimately she is mine.  Will you follow me even tho I slay you?"  it took me some time to answer HIM, I struggled, and wrestled the thing out.  GOD did deliver her and myself from that time. But not before I laid her down on HIS altar, and said "yes, even tho you slay me".

God is trustworthy. HE knows the plans HE has for our children, and HE knows the lessons that they must learn, and how they will learn it.  HE is putting together their testimony.  As mothers we really have to be careful not to start worshipping our children, and daily trust HIM as we put them in HIS hands.  The world and the enemy has more to contend with as they are in HIS hands, than any repercussion from the Lioness when her cubs are in danger.

HE KNOWS the plans he has for us, HE KNOWS..and they are always for good and HIS glory.  Not necessarily for our glory..but how awesome that it is always for HIS Glory.
